At noon on May 17, speaking with Lao Dong reporter, the leader of the People's Committee of Minh Tan commune (Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province) confirmed that, through a quick report from the commune police force, he said that a drowning incident had just occurred in the Red River, causing the mother and child to be swept away by water and their whereabouts are unknown.
The identity of the mother is Ms. L (born in 1990), her child is C (born in 2013), all residing in Tan Ap 1 village, Minh Tan commune.
According to the initial preliminary information, on the morning of May 17, Ms. L took 3 children to the beach outside the Red River dike to catch crabs. While the mother was busy catching, 3 children playing with each other unfortunately Crously slipped into the river. Seeing that, Ms. L ran back to the river to save her children but both of them were swept away by water, the other two children ran back to the people to rescue.
"This is such preliminary information, because today is a day off for us brothers who are traveling far away and are not at home, but only listen to the police report. Currently, we are taking the vehicles back to see how the situation is specifically, at home, the rescue team and fishing boats around that area are organizing a search for the victims," said the leader of the People's Committee of Minh Tan commune.
In a quick interview with Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Nham Quang Van - Captain of the 116 Free Rescue Team said that, upon receiving information about the incident from the Minh Tan Commune Police, the team urgently organized forces and vehicles to go to the scene to support the search for Ms. L and her son.
Previously, the 116 Free Rescue Team had just completed the task of searching for the body of a male student born in 2008 in Xuan Thuong Commune (Xuan Truong District, Nam Dinh Province) who died from drowning in Xuan Thanh Commune, Xuan Truong District.
