Searching for missing workers along Dak Mi hydropower discharge canal

THANH TUẤN |

Quang Ngai - Functional forces have mobilized dozens of people to make efforts to search for the body of the missing worker along the fast-flowing stream.

On March 19, Xop Commune Police, Quang Ngai province handed over the body of Mr. P.T. V. (born in 1999, residing in Duy Xuyen, Da Nang, technical staff of a construction company) to his family for funeral arrangements.

Previously, on March 17, Xop Commune Police received a report about this male worker being missing on a stream near the Dak Mil hydropower project construction area.

Xop Commune Police quickly verified and reported to superiors, and at the same time mobilized forces to coordinate with the Task Force of PC07 Department - Quang Ngai Provincial Police, SOS Quang Nam Team... to deploy search and rescue work.

The area where the incident occurred has administrative boundaries belonging to Phuoc Thanh commune, Da Nang city, but is a border area between the two communes; the road is difficult and the terrain is complex.

The water flow is fast, deep, with many dangerous whirlpools; on both sides are deep, vertical rocky abysses, causing no small difficulties in the search.

Faced with that situation, the forces were divided into many groups, organizing patrols along the stream bank and Dak Mil hydropower lake; using canoes, diving equipment and support tools to search underwater.

At about 6 am on March 19, functional forces found the victim's body and proceeded to hand it over to the family.

Xop Commune Police recommends that people and workers in the project construction area need to raise awareness of preventing drowning accidents; do not arbitrarily swim, swim, or fish in the area of hydropower reservoirs, rivers, deep and fast-flowing streams...
