Body of two victims swept away by floodwaters in Lang Son found

Lang Son - After nearly two days of searching, the authorities have found the bodies of two victims swept away by floodwaters while crossing the spillway in Khuat Xa commune.

At noon on July 25, informing the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vi Van Phong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Khuat Xa Commune - said that the authorities of Lang Son province had found the bodies of two victims missing due to floods while passing through the Tam Cha spillway, in Tan Hop village, Khuat Xa commune.

At around 7am, the first victim's body was discovered at a location about 500m from the underground bridge. At 8:00 a.m. the same day, the second victim was found in an area about 1km from the underground bridge.

The two victims were identified as Mr. L.V.C (born in 1988, residing in Ban Moi 2 village) and Mr. N.V.G (born in 1988, residing in Ban Moi 1 village), both from Na Duong commune.

Previously, at around 9:00 a.m. on July 23, people discovered two victims driving a white motorbike, moving from Ban Chu to Tam Cha spillway.

When they reached the middle of the river, the floodwaters swept away both people and vehicles, leaving two people missing.

Immediately after receiving the news, local authorities and functional forces deployed search and rescue operations. The Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Lang Son Provincial Police mobilized dozens of officers, soldiers, two motorized steam boats and many specialized equipment to coordinate the search at the scene.

By this morning (July 25), the search was completed. The bodies of the two victims were handed over to the local authorities to carry out legal procedures and brought back to their families for funeral arrangements.
