The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has issued Decision No. 931/QD-UBND approving the investment policy for the project to complete the intersection and auxiliary infrastructure system of Dien Bien Phu road (Dong Hoi ward, Quang Tri town).
This additional project is invested by the Dong Hoi Environment and Climate Change Project Management Board, with a total estimated capital of more than 20 billion VND from the provincial budget and medium-term capital for the period 2026 - 2030.
On September 15, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of the Dong Hoi Environment and Climate Change Project Management Board said that the unit is in the process of completing documents, approving designs and estimates to organize bidding.
According to the Board's leaders, this intersection was previously part of a loan project, but when the project was completed, it was not connected, so the investment in the intersection had to be established a new project.
Therefore, all procedures must be performed from the beginning, including approving technical reports, designs, estimates, bidding...before entering construction.
In addition, the expansion of the intersection is also related to site clearance, so the implementation has a number of other steps.
It is expected that the project will be implemented at the end of 2025 and completed in the second quarter of 2026.
Previously, Dien Bien Phu road connecting Nhat Le 2 bridge to National Highway 1 bypass through Dong Hoi was built over the past 2 years, with a scale of 4 lanes. However, due to the lack of a connecting intersection due to problems with the BOT project implemented by Truong Thinh Group Joint Stock Company, the end point of the route had to be fenced with concrete blocks, causing very little traffic.
The 1.4km long road, 36m wide roadbed, has a total investment of 165 billion VND from the World Bank. The project was basically completed on June 30, 2023, but has not yet been effective due to lack of connection.
