On the afternoon of November 20, Mr. Nguyen Van Dam - General Director of Khanh Hoa Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company - said that since 7:00 a.m. the same day, the enterprise had to temporarily stop supplying water to all 4 wards of Nha Trang, Nam Nha Trang, Bac Nha Trang, Tay Nha Trang and neighboring areas.
According to Mr. Dam, in the past 12 hours, the water level of Cai Nha Trang River has risen very quickly.
Recorded at Dong Trang hydrological station at 3:00 a.m. on November 20, the water level rose to 12.95 m - 3 to 1.95 m higher than the alarm level.
The sudden rise in flood water caused the entire pumping station of the two factories Vo Canh and Xuan Phong to be deeply flooded, all electrical cabinets, generators and technical systems were submerged in water, unable to operate.
Notably, more than 10 employees are currently isolated in the area of the two factories.
On the morning of November 20, the company contacted the rescue team to provide food and grasp the health status of the staff.
However, the floodwaters were so strong that rescue canoes could not reach them. Access to pumping stations will be resumed after the floodwaters recede.
According to the leader of Khanh Hoa Water Supply and Drainage Company, the unit is focusing all human resources and equipment to fix the water retreat.
Immediately after the pumping stations are restored to operation, the water source will be provided again.
The company also noted that at first, the water may clump, people need to release water before using it.
