Ho Chi Minh City is about to build Bon Xa intersection, Nguyen Tri Phuong intersection, Dien Bien Phu intersection to separate traffic flows, reduce conflicts, and overcome traffic congestion.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to prepare a pre-feasibility study report for the Bon Xa intersection project, the Nguyen Tri Phuong - Ngo Gia Tu - Nguyen Chi Thanh intersection and the Dien Bien Phu - Ngo Gia Tu - Ly Thai To - Le Hong Phong intersection.

Bon Xa Intersection

The Bon Xa intersection is the intersection of 6 routes: Binh Long, Thoai Ngoc Hau, Hoa Binh, Phan Anh, Huong Lo 2 and Le Van Quoi.

This is one of the "black" traffic jams in Ho Chi Minh City, with high traffic density, especially during rush hour.

The overpass project here was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2016 but has not been implemented due to lack of capital.

According to the new plan being studied, the overpass will be built in the direction of Le Van Quoi - Hoa Binh, instead of Thoai Ngoc Hau - Huong Lo 2 as before. The project is about 280 m long, 12 m wide, for two-way traffic.

The total investment of the project is about 2,383 billion VND, of which the cost of site clearance accounts for nearly 2,100 billion VND. The project cost increased by about 523 billion VND compared to the previous proposal due to adjustment of scale and fluctuations in compensation prices.

Dien Bien Phu Cave

The Dien Bien Phu intersection (formerly District 3 and District 10) is the convergence of Dien Bien Phu, Le Hong Phong, Ly Thai To and Ngo Gia Tu routes.

Currently, the intersection is organized in a roundabout, but the number of vehicles pouring in is too large, causing frequent congestion.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the overpass will be built along the main axis of Ly Thai To, with branches connecting to Le Hong Phong Street. The total investment of the project is more than 400 billion VND.

This solution helps separate direct traffic and turned traffic, reducing conflicts and improving the ability to pass through areas that have been congested for a long time.

Nguyen Tri Phuong fell

The intersection of Nguyen Tri Phuong - Ngo Gia Tu - Nguyen Chi Thanh (formerly District 5 and District 10) is also an area with a roundabout with the An Duong Vuong monument in the center.

In recent years, the traffic volume on the routes has increased, causing the area to be often overloaded.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is studying overpass construction options, with the requirement of both solving on-site congestion and ensuring that it does not cause negative impacts on neighboring intersections such as Hung Vuong, Ba Thang Hai, Ly Thai To streets... The total investment of the project is about 400 billion VND.
