The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just approved a fixed waterway transport route from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao district (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province).
This route is operated by Thanh Thanh Phat Passenger Transport Company Limited, using the Phu Quy Express high-speed train with a capacity of 374 seats.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao high-speed train route operates a maximum of 1 trip/day with the following schedule:
Departure from Saigon Port (District 4, Ho Chi Minh City) at 7:00.
Departure from Ben Dam Fishing Port or Con Dao Passenger Port (Con Dao District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province) at 11:30.
The operating period starts from March 28, 2025 until new regulations are issued.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport requires Thanh Thanh Phat Company to fully comply with regulations on maritime safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental protection and passenger safety. At the same time, the company must fully carry out related procedures before exploiting the route, including declaring ticket prices.
Choosing a starting point in District 4 instead of Hiep Phuoc Port (Nha Be District) helps shorten the travel distance for passengers.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao high-speed train route operated by Phu Quoc High-speed Ship Joint Stock Company with Thang Long (capacity of more than 1,000 passengers) encountered many problems when welcoming passengers at Hiep Phuoc port.
Because the distance from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Hiep Phuoc port is up to more than 20km, passengers must register for a shuttle bus in advance, switch to a small bus to enter the area where the train is anchored and pay a fee of 35,000 VND if traveling by private vehicle. In addition, finding a car from the port to the center of Ho Chi Minh City after returning from Con Dao is also very difficult.
Therefore, after nearly two months of operation, this train line had to stop operating from July 29, 2024 due to ineffectiveness.
