On July 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that construction units are making efforts to speed up the progress of package XL1 of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 Project, especially at the intersection with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway. The goal is to ensure connection with Nhon Trach Bridge (under Component Project 1A) by the end of September 2025.
Currently, Nhon Trach Bridge has completed the asphalt concrete paving, and has installed a railing, lighting system, a bridge surface drainage system as well as traffic signs at both ends of the bridge. At the intersection with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway alone, the contractor has mobilized 9 construction teams with nearly 30 equipment to speed up implementation.

Up to now, the connecting overpass ( branch bridge A) has completed 100% of the concrete pouring work. However, the road construction process is facing many obstacles due to unfavorable weather and prolonged thunderstorms from mid-May to now, greatly affecting the construction quality of the foundation and road surface of both component projects 1 and 1A. In addition, service routes and temporary wharves also often have to be maintained and repaired, making it difficult to gather materials.
The Traffic Department has requested contractors to focus maximum human and material resources, overcome difficulties, speed up the construction progress of important items of the XL1 package, ensure connectivity and technical traffic opening with Nhon Trach Bridge as planned by the end of September 2025, while fully complying with technical standards and requirements on construction quality.
In addition, the remaining items of the XL1 package such as branch bridge B and branch bridge C serving the synchronization of the intersection between Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and Nhon Trach Bridge - are also being accelerated, with the goal of completion by the end of 2025.
Up to now, the construction volume of 10 main construction packages of the Ring Road 3 project through Ho Chi Minh City has reached more than 45%. The goal by the end of 2025 is that the construction volume will exceed 70%, ensuring the opening of the 14.7 km long overpass expressway through Thu Duc City (old), and the technical opening of the 32.6 km expressway passing through Cu Chi, Hoc Mon and Binh Chanh districts (old). The entire Ring Road 3 route through Ho Chi Minh City is expected to be technically open to traffic on December 31, 2025, according to the schedule set by the Government and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
