On the afternoon of January 16, at a regular press conference on the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City, Lieutenant Colonel Le Manh Ha - Deputy Head of the Staff Department (Ho Chi Minh City Police) said that near the Lunar New Year 2025, the situation of "illegal buses and stations" in Ho Chi Minh City tends to increase.
Ho Chi Minh City Police and the Department of Transport have implemented many drastic measures to ensure traffic order and protect the rights of passengers.
From November 25, 2024 to now, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police have handled more than 1,850 violations, fined more than VND 1.5 billion and revoked 122 driving licenses. Of these, there were 1,125 cases of stopping and parking in violation of regulations; 31 cases of violating the transportation contract or passenger list; 90 cases of picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations and 13 cases of not driving on the correct route or not carrying a transportation order.
Through inspection, the police have identified many locations with signs of "illegal vehicles and illegal stations". Ho Chi Minh City Police have directed the traffic police force to strengthen inspection and control of passenger transport vehicles throughout the area, and drivers who violate the regulations must sign a commitment to comply with regulations. At the same time, the database of business transport vehicle routes is being completed to support more effective inspection and punishment.
Parking lots that evade the law and cooperate with households to build illegal parking lots will also be inspected and strictly handled by authorities.
The peak period of inspection and handling of "illegal vehicles and bus stations" will be implemented from November 25, 2024 and last until February 14, 2025.
Traffic police will continue to closely monitor through cameras, journey monitoring data and direct inspection at the scene.
