On the morning of March 29, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee coordinated with Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company to organize a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River (connecting District 1 and Thu Duc City).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport - said that the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River has a unique architecture, inspired by the shape of water coconut leaves - a familiar symbol of the Southern land.

The project has a total length of about 720m, a cross-section of 6 to 11m, with a spatial steel arch structure applied for the first time in Vietnam. This promises to be one of the most impressive pedestrian bridges in the world.
The project has a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND, all funded by Nutifood.

The bridge connects from Ben Bach Dang Park (District 1) to the riverside park area, Thu Thiem New Urban Area (Thu Duc City).
According to Mr. Tran Quang Lam, the project was carefully researched by Japanese experts. During the design process, the team of engineers calculated the impact of wind, earthquake, ship collision and organized an overseas wind tunnel experiment to ensure the highest safety for the project.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nutifood - shared that the construction of a pedestrian bridge is not only a mark of urban development but also a gift of gratitude from Nutifood to consumers across the country who have accompanied the company for the past 25 years.
It is expected that the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River will be completed and inaugurated on April 30, 2026.
Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong emphasized that the groundbreaking of the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River is a practical action to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
At the same time, this is also an important step forward to help improve the quality of life for people, creating a highlight project with special value in the city's urban planning.

Ho Chi Minh City is aiming for strategic development goals, building a smart, modern city, while still preserving cultural identity and historical memories. The bridge is not only a traffic project, but also a symbol of the strong rise of Ho Chi Minh City - a large city that constantly innovates and integrates globally but still appreciates and preserves sustainable cultural values.
I request the Department of Transport, relevant departments and local authorities to closely coordinate with sponsors, contractors, and construction units to work with the highest sense of responsibility. Not only ensuring progress, but also aiming to create a beautiful, sustainable project with long-term significance for the community. The construction needs to be carried out on schedule, meeting standards on quality, safety, aesthetics and environmental protection" - Mr. Cuong directed.
