On July 21, present at Provincial Road 156 of the project to build a border bridge across the Red River in Ban Vuoc Commune, the old Bat Xat District and connecting infrastructure (now Bat Xat Commune, Lao Cai Province), Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded many workers speeding up the progress before the storm arrived.
At the construction site of the billion-dollar transport project, many large-capacity machines have been mobilized for construction.


Regularly traveling on Provincial Road 156, Ms. Bui Thi Thu ( Bat Xat New Commune, Lao Cai Province) said: "Provincial Road 156 has completed the asphalt paving of many sections, so people's travel is very convenient. We hope that the next Lao Cai - China bridge, once completed, will boost trade between the two countries and promote economic development after the province's merger".
It is known that the investment project to build a border bridge over the Red River in Ban Vuoc commune and connecting infrastructure includes 3 components, implemented in the period of 2021-2025.


In which, component 1: Construction of a border bridge across the Red River; upgrading Provincial Road 156 (Kim Thanh - Ngoi Phat) from the intersection with BV32 and BV28 roads to the intersection with BV190 road (3km long); upgrading and renovating the Noi Bai - Lao Cai IC 18 expressway intersection.
Component 2 includes: Upgrading Provincial Road 156 (Kim Thanh - Ngoi Phat) from Quang Kim Bridge to the intersection with BV32 and BV28 roads (8km long) and leveling the ground on both sides of the road with a depth of 50m; component 3: Upgrading and renovating IC19 intersection.
The total investment is 1,490 billion VND, the Central budget supports 950 billion VND, the local budget matches 540 billion VND.

The construction units are Minh Duc General Construction Company Limited, Cuong Thinh Thi Construction Investment and Development Joint Stock Company and Dong Hung Development Investment Joint Stock Company.
For the border bridge project across the Red River connecting Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China), the total investment capital is about 282 billion VND. Trung Chinh Construction and Trading Company Limited is the construction unit, the implementation period is within 18 months.
In Vietnam, the bridge construction location is at Ban Vuoc border gate, Bat Xat district, about 700 m downstream of marker 97 on the Red River.


The project will have the following scale: Extradosed main bridge over the Red River (low- tower cable-stayed bridge); girder made of prestressed reinforced concrete according to the cantilever casting method combined with fan-less cable-stayed cable-stayed, tower pillars are 20 m high from the bridge surface.
The width of the bridge is 35.3 m, of which the Vietnamese side will build half of the main bridge (115 m long).
The bridge and approach road on the Vietnam side are 40 m long and are made of reinforced concrete box beams for force cast on fixed scaffolding. The road at the head of the bridge is 232.5 m long, the roadbed is 35 m wide, the road surface is 25 m wide.

The Bridge Project Management Board informed that every day at the construction site of the road bridge across the Red River on the border of Ban Vuoc, Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China) on the Vietnam side, there are about 50 workers and many modern machines and equipment.
The contractor is currently speeding up construction to ensure the project will be completed in September 2026, after 18 months of construction.
