On the evening of April 18, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper was present at the construction site of the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project and recorded the urgent air spreading throughout every corner.
After more than 3 years of tireless construction, the bridge connecting the two banks of the Tien River is about to enter an important moment - the dragon meeting ceremony taking place on the morning of April 19, 2025. This is not only a technical milestone, but also a symbol of solidarity, perseverance and dedication of hundreds of engineers and workers who have poured sweat on the construction site over the past time.

At the construction site, hundreds of workers worked excluding day and night. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nha - Construction Worker at the XL -02 Package of Rach Mieu Bridge Project 2 - Share, the workers work continuously, not to mention many days of rain and sunshine, to quickly reach the Dragon Day. Before the time of Hop Long, on April 18, Mr. Nha's group was assigned to clean the bridge pillars at the main bridge, and at the same time performing cable tension here.
"The dragon ceremony - the time when the two spans from both ends meet accurately to every kilometre - will be a memorable moment, not only for the construction team but also for the people of Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces," said Mr. Nha.
According to Mr. Nha, the resilience and perseverance after more than 3 years of tireless construction at the construction site, especially before the "G" hour of the closing ceremony, not only demonstrates the construction capacity but also contributes to strengthening the confidence in the organization capacity of domestic units.

Present at the Rach Mieu 2 bridge construction site on the afternoon of April 18, Mr. Tran Nam Vo - a VNPT Tien Giang employee - said: To prepare for the inauguration ceremony and online groundbreaking of a series of projects nationwide taking place on the morning of April 19, he and his colleagues were directed to come here to install and connect the online bridge point system.
In addition to ensuring the quality of connections, we also prepared backup plans for the event to take place smoothly. This special event is organized in the form of multi-point connection between localities, so we work urgently and prepare carefully. All preparations must be completed by the afternoon of April 18 to run a trial program, Mr. Vo informed.

Information from the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project Management Board said that the project has completed 85% of the volume, exceeding the general progress by more than 5.04% compared to the plan. In particular, the main bridge (Rach Mieu 2 bridge) is more than 15% ahead of schedule.
Up to now, the entire route has been completed 14/14km (100%). Of which, about 7/14km of asphalt concrete has been spread in each segment and it is expected to complete the entire route (including the road and bridge) on the Ben Tre side before June 30, 2025.
Regarding the bridge section on the route, 4/6 bridges have been completed; the remaining 2 bridges under construction are the main bridge and the Song Ma bridge. Of which, Song Ma bridge is expected to be completed in June 2025. As for the main bridge, 13/14 main bridge deck casting blocks have been completed, currently under construction of the bridge - casting block No. 14 (5.0m long), which will be closed on April 19, 2025.
According to the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project Management Board, every day, at this project site, the units continue to maintain construction in 3 shifts, 4 teams with a total of about 30 construction teams, about 150 equipment units, 500 workers and 83 technical staff.
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project has a starting point at the intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870 in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province, and an end point connecting to National Highway 60 at the Ham Luong Bridge approach road in Ben Tre Province. This project has a scale of 4 lanes, a design speed of 80km/h, expected to be completed in early September 2025. When the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project is completed, it will contribute to reducing traffic congestion at the existing Rach Mieu Bridge.
