On December 16, the Investigation Police Agency of Son La Province Police (Criminal Police Department) issued an emergency detention order, a decision to temporarily detain and an emergency arrest warrant for 7 subjects for gambling.
Previously, on December 15, the Criminal Police Department presided over and coordinated with Mai Son Commune Police to discover and arrest 7 subjects, all residing in Mai Son Commune, who gambling in the form of recording lottery numbers and lottery numbers via social networks.
The subjects include: Vu Thanh Nguyen (born in 1982, ringleader), Dao Van Sy (born in 1967), Nguyen Van Khoa (born in 1983), Giang Trung (born in 1971), Nguyen The Chau (born in 1966), Nguyen Ngoc Hua (born in 1965) and Vu Cong Hoa (born in 1963).
Initial investigation results determined that, due to previous acquaintances, the subjects had concluded and established a gambling ring in the form of recording lottery numbers, lottery numbers via mobile phones and social networking applications such as Zalo, Telegram.
Every day, the organizers receive lottery tickets, questions and digital sales transactions with each other; the payment is made in cash or by bank transfer. On average, the amount of transactions in the line is up to hundreds of millions of VND per day.
Based on the collected documents and evidence, the Investigation Police Agency of Son La Province Police has issued decisions to prosecute the 7 subjects mentioned above for gambling. The decisions have been approved by the People's Procuracy of Region 4.
The case is currently being further investigated and expanded according to the provisions of law.
