50% of the works are degraded, not ensuring professional tasks
Kien An Hospital is a class I general hospital in the city with a scale of 700 planned beds and is classified as a basic level of technical expertise. The hospital has a total of 31 departments, rooms and centers, including 8 functional departments, 22 specialized departments and 1 testing center.
According to the hospital's report, currently, about 50% of the works are suitable for professional activities, the remaining 50% are degraded items. On the afternoon of November 12, Lao Dong reporter noted that the intensive care treatment area, the Emergency, diagnostic imaging and testing room, the Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Infection Control have been in use since 1997, and the condition has seriously degraded. Some areas of the house walls are ulcerated and peeling, making patients feel hesitant, and the professional work of the team of doctors and nurses is also affected.
Doctor Dao Phu Ha - Head of the Emergency Department of Kien An Hospital - said that every day, the department receives 60-70 emergency patients, most of whom are seriously ill patients. The current deterioration of facilities and unsynchronization also affect the patient's emergency work. Therefore, the department also hopes that the hospital will soon be invested in and renovated, so that the team of doctors can work with peace of mind, focusing on improving professional quality.
In addition to this area, the Foreign - Defense housing area built from 2004 to present has also degraded, the walls are peeling, patchy, and moldy. The Infectious Diseases Department (Tropical Diseases Department) is in a similar situation.
In particular, the Office building - ENT Department - X-rayed camera used since 1961, after more than 64 years, has seriously degraded, the ceiling of the 2nd floor has a large crack, which is at risk of insecurity, especially during the rainy and stormy season.

Proposal to build new and renovate many items
Specialist Doctor 2 Nguyen Thi Ly - Deputy Director of Kien An Hospital - said that on average, the hospital receives more than 600 patients per day. At the end of 2024, the city will pay attention to and invest in building a 7-storey treatment area for the hospital. The treatment area after being put into operation partly meets the needs of patients. However, many works at the hospital have also deteriorated a lot, and need to be invested in, repaired and upgraded.
The hospital has also made a plan, proposing that the city pay attention to investing in and building a new house for intensive resuscitation treatment, emergency care, diagnostic imaging area, testing, pharmacy department and Infection Control department; repairing the Surgery - Obstetrics Department, repairing the Infectious Diseases Department (Tropical Diseases Department) as well as renovating and repairing the main gate and hospital surrounding walls. The total estimated cost is about more than 140 billion VND.
"According to the plan, by 2030, Kien An Hospital aims to expand the expected scale of 900-1,000 beds, develop more specialties such as the Department of Cardiovascular Intervention and High-Tech deployment Center... Therefore, the hospital really hopes to invest in a 4-storey treatment area, where all emergency resuscitation patients will be received, an infection control center, a department of cardiovascular intervention... to ensure the operating standards of a Grade I hospital and aim to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment" - said Dr. Nguyen Thi Ly.
