The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project has a total length of more than 76 km, phase 1 is designed with 4 lanes for expressway vehicles and parallel roads.
The total investment capital of the project is nearly VND 75,400 billion, passing through four localities (until merging provinces and cities) including: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An. However, after merging provinces and cities, the Ring Road 3 route currently passes through three localities: Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the section of Ring Road 3 through the old Ho Chi Minh City is over 47 km long, with a total investment of about VND 41,387 billion, of which compensation and site clearance costs account for nearly VND 19,000 billion.
After more than 2 years of construction, this section has reached about 45% of the volume.
To speed up, the investor requires contractors and construction consulting units to organize 3 shifts and 4 teams continuously; at the same time, apply many technical solutions such as increasing the load, increasing the density of the absorber bamboo, using vacuum pumps to shorten the time for weak soil treatment.
According to the plan, Ring Road 3 through Ho Chi Minh City will be implemented to open to traffic in stages.
September 18, 2025: Traffic opening from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway intersection to Nhon Trach bridge.

December 31, 2025: Open 14.7 km of the overpass (elevated road) from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway intersection to the Tan Van intersection; at the same time, technically open 32.6 km of the expressway passing through the old districts of Ho Chi Minh City (Cu Chi, Hoc Mon and Binh Chanh).
By June 30, 2026: The entire 47 km section through Ho Chi Minh City will be opened to traffic.

The more than 11 km long section of Ring Road 3 passing through the old Binh Duong province (now part of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger) is also being urgently implemented.
Binh Goi Bridge - an important project of this section was closed at the end of June 2025, contributing to ensuring the goal of full traffic opening in 2026.

In Tay Ninh (formerly Long An province), the 6.8 km long section of Ring Road 3 is currently about 78% complete.
The intersection connecting the two expressways of Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong and Ben Luc - Long Thanh is being accelerated, expected to be completed and technically opened to traffic before October 31, 2025. The entire section of Ring Road 3 through Tay Ninh will be open to traffic by the end of 2025.

Meanwhile, the section through Dong Nai, 11.2 km long (from Nhon Trach bridge to Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway), has reached nearly 40% of the volume and is targeted to be completed synchronously by 2026.
When completed, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 will connect 5 key expressways including: Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay, Ben Luc - Long Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai and Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh.
The route not only contributes to reducing traffic pressure for the inner city of Ho Chi Minh City, but also creates a strategic transportation corridor for the entire key economic region in the South.
Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 will open up new development space, connecting industrial parks, export processing zones and large seaport systems, strongly promoting logistics activities, attracting investment and developing the regional economy.
This is expected to be a new "traffic lifeline", helping Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces make a strong breakthrough in the coming period.
