Road worth more than 206 billion VND still entangled with 3 households

HOÀNG LỘC |

Phu Khuong D5 road, Vinh Long province reached about 90% of the volume, still has 3 households, so the entire route cannot be completed.

Shortening the journey but still many inconveniences

Road D5 belongs to the Essential Infrastructure Project to stabilize people's lives in Ward 8 and Phu Hung commune (phase 2), now belonging to Phu Khuong ward, invested with more than 206.3 billion VND from the central budget. The road is more than 1.67km long, connecting Phu Hung roundabout with Nguyen Dinh Chieu street.

Currently, many vehicles have been circulating on the route, however, some locations are still facing site clearance issues, making the project unable to be completed, the road surface is not synchronized, generating dust on sunny days, and puddles on rainy days.

As a worker working at Giao Long Industrial Park, Mr. Tran Chi Tinh (An Hoi ward) said that before, he had to go around nearly 5km every day to get to work. When the road was put into operation, the distance was significantly shortened.

However, according to Mr. Tinh, the project started in 2023, but has not been completed yet. "The road is closer, but many sections are still dusty and have potholes, so motorcyclists have to drive slowly. I hope the project will be completed soon to make travel safer" - he said.

Sharing the same wish, Ms. Le Cam Tu, a resident of Phu Khuong ward, said that the completed road will not only facilitate travel but also contribute to urban embellishment, reduce dust and create a spacious appearance for the area.

Rolling construction, waiting for 3 households

At the construction site, Mr. Du Khac Nguyen - Head of the project construction team - said that the unit is mobilizing dozens of equipment including rollers, dump trucks, trucks and about 30 workers to work regularly to speed up progress.

According to Mr. Nguyen, the contractor organizes construction in a rolling manner, flexibly adjusting construction fronts and to maximize the handed-over site area. Wherever the site is clean, manpower and construction equipment will be concentrated there, in order to take advantage of time and limit the impact on the overall project progress.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Huy - Deputy Director of Vinh Long Provincial Agricultural Project Management Board said that the project currently reaches about 90% of the volume value. Out of a total of 86 affected households, 4 households have not yet handed over the site.

On July 9, the locality successfully mobilized 1 more household to agree to hand over the land. Currently, the Project Management Board coordinates with the Land Fund Development Center and Phu Khuong Ward People's Committee to complete procedures for the remaining 3 households in July 2026.

When we receive enough land, we will request the contractor to accelerate construction, striving to complete the project in September 2026, contributing to completing traffic infrastructure, urban embellishment of the area and soon complete putting the project into operation and use, promoting investment efficiency" - Mr. Huy said.
