At more than 3:00 p.m. the same day, a waste tank truck of Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage Company passed through Cong Truong Me Linh roundabout. While taking a turn towards Ton Duc Thang Street, he suddenly collided with a motorbike driven by a woman traveling in the same direction. As a result, the woman fell onto the road and was run over and died on the spot.
At the scene, the damaged motorbike was lying in front of the tanker truck. Many furniture and helmets are scattered on the road. The victim's identity has not been announced.
The Saigon Ward Police force quickly arrived to block off the scene, coordinate the extraction of camera footage and investigate the cause of the incident.
At nearly 6:00 p.m., the victim's body was transferred to the morgue to be handed over to the family. Traffic in the area was later cleared.
Cong Truong Me Linh roundabout is located on the banks of the Saigon River adjacent to 6 routes including Ton Duc Thang, Hai Ba Trung, Thi Sach, Ngo Duc Ke, Phan Van Dat, Ho Huan Nghiep. This area often has a very high traffic volume, motorbikes running near motorbike taxis are prone to fall into blind spots, posing a potential risk of accidents.
