Since the renovation, agricultural production has grown rapidly and continuously at an average rate of 3.56% per year, agricultural export turnover has increased at a rate of about 10%/year, creating an important source of foreign currency revenue, becoming the world's leading agricultural exporting country.

According to statistics from the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development, in 2024, rice exports will reach about 9 million tons, bringing Vietnam to the third position globally, after India and Thailand. With an output of more than 39 million tons of rice, Vietnam not only firmly ensures domestic food security but also actively contributes to global food security.
In the seafood sector, Vietnam maintains an export value of approximately 10 billion USD, in the group of three largest seafood exporters in the world, after China and Norway. This figure reached 11 billion USD in 2022, affirming the potential and strong recovery ability of the industry after a difficult period due to the pandemic.
For coffee, Vietnam continues to maintain its second position in the world, after Brazil, with an annual output of about 1.6 - 1.8 million tons, and an export turnover of more than 4.5 billion USD. The fruit and vegetable group also grew impressively, helping Vietnam to be in the top 15 leading exporting countries, thanks to the diverse climate advantage, deep processing capacity and the dynamism of young businesses.

In addition, items such as cashews, pepper, rubber, wood and wood products are all in the main global export group, firmly consolidating Vietnam's position on the world agricultural product map.
These figures show that the agricultural sector has been constantly developing, contributing to ensuring national food security and contributing to global food security, while enhancing Vietnam's position in the international arena.
The achievements have created a solid foundation for the Vietnamese agricultural and environmental sector to enter a new era with a rapid and sustainable development orientation, linking economic growth, social progress and environmental protection, aiming to become a high-income developed country by the mid-X mixed-century.
In that orientation, the agricultural sector focuses on building a green, low-emission, and environmentally friendly economy. This is not only an inevitable trend but also an urgent requirement to improve growth quality, meet global standards and ensure long-term sustainable development.

Accompanying growth is a requirement to strictly control resources, environment and emissions. Agricultural development must go hand in hand with environmental protection - that is the only way to improve growth quality, meet global standards and maintain Vietnam's position in the world food supply chain" - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien emphasized.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment Day and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will organize a series of events lasting from July to December 2025.
