People living along the Nai lagoon embankment in Tri Hai commune and Khanh Hai town, Ninh Hai district reported that oyster shells were dumped on the Nai lagoon embankment, causing loss of aesthetics and environmental pollution.
Mr. Bon Can in Ho Diem village, Ho Hai commune described that every day he goes to Nai lagoon to catch shrimp and fish and witnesses the scene of oyster shells spilling all over the embankment, which is very unsightly. The oyster shells here are dumped along most of the embankment and have not been collected and treated.
Mr. Can and many people hope that the locality will take measures to completely handle this situation.
According to a report from Tri Hai Commune, there are currently nearly 40 households in Tri Thuy 1 Village expanding and building temporary houses along the embankment to process oysters. After removing the core, the oyster shells are recycled by the people to make a substrate for growing oysters for the next crop.
Regarding the above issue, the Department of Agriculture and Development of Ninh Hai district assessed that the development of cage oyster farming on Nai lagoon is very fast.
There is a situation where some oyster farmers do not collect and treat dead oysters but instead discharge them directly into Nai lagoon, causing water pollution and affecting the living environment of other farmed animals around the Nai lagoon area.
Mr. Tran Huu Nhan - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Hai district admitted that there are currently 12 households operating on rafts, mainly purchasing oysters, most of which operate spontaneously without business registration.
Recently, the People's Committee of Ninh Hai district has requested the People's Committees of communes and towns including Tri Hai, Khanh Hai, Tan Hai, Ho Hai, Phuong Hai to organize households raising oysters, selling oysters and oyster shells to sign a commitment not to discharge waste during the farming process, not to dump oyster shells into Nai Lagoon or into the sea.
All waste and oyster shells are collected and transported to the local landfill or to the Nam Thanh waste treatment plant for treatment. For households trading in oysters in Tan Hai commune, they are collected and transported to the transfer point and then transferred to Nam Thanh Company for transport to the waste treatment plant for treatment.
The local government also organized households that raise oysters, sell oysters and oyster shells to sign a commitment not to discharge waste during the farming process and not to dump oyster shells into Nai Lagoon.
