Lao Dong Newspaper has just received feedback from readers about the Hoa Hong bridge across the Tien Yen - Mong Cai expressway showing many cracks.
Readers expressed concern that if this situation continues to develop, it may affect the safety of the project as well as vehicles traveling on the expressway below.
On August 13, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters were present at Hoa Hong bridge, Duong Hoa commune to verify the incident. According to reporters' observations, cracks appeared a lot at both ends of the bridge; there is one crack extending along the length of the bridge body.
Talking to reporters, the leader of Duong Hoa Commune People's Committee said that the locality has just received feedback on the cracking situation at Hoa Hong bridge deck and has assigned a professional department to inspect the site.
According to the reporter's investigation, Hoa Hong bridge belongs to the Sub-project of construction of auxiliary works under the Project to Invest in the construction of the Tien Yen - Mong Cai expressway.
The investor is the Quang Ninh Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (now the Quang Ninh Region II Construction Investment Project Management Board).
According to information from the Construction Investment Project Management Board of Region II of Quang Ninh province, Hoa Hong overpass has an investment value of 5.6 billion VND, constructed by Bridge 75 Construction Joint Stock Company and subcontractor Phuong Dong Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company.
The bridge consists of a 38.3m long span, a total length of 60.4m, a width of 4.7m, and has been put into use since 2022.
Regarding the appearance of cracks on Hoa Hong bridge, the Project Management Board for Construction Investment Area II of Quang Ninh province has also received a written reflection from Van Don Infrastructure Investment and Development Co., Ltd. (the unit managing, operating, and exploiting the Tien Yen - Mong Cai expressway).
According to the company's reflection, during the patrol and inspection of the route on August 11, the unit discovered damage at the overpass on the Tien Yen - Mong Cai expressway, Km136+900 (Hoa Hong bridge).
Preliminary inspection of the scene, the route management unit recorded that cracks in the road surface appeared in the bridge deck area on the side of the railing, including a location where the crack was extended. Some locations of concrete structure in the railing area showed signs of cracking and breaking; cracks appeared on the upper part of the railing; the beam wing area below showed signs of damage.
According to the expressway operating unit, the above situation needs to be inspected and specifically assessed for the causes and extent of impact on the load-bearing capacity and operational safety of the project.
The company requests the investor to urgently organize a field inspection, coordinate with the operating unit and related consulting units to assess the current state of damage.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Viet Dung - Director of the Project Management Board for Construction Investment Area II of Quang Ninh province - said that immediately after receiving information from the expressway management and operation unit, the Board informed the local authorities to coordinate preliminary inspection, and at the same time requested special attention to ensuring safety during the operation of the Tien Yen - Mong Cai expressway.
In the immediate future, it is necessary to ensure that materials and components from the bridge do not fall onto the expressway, affecting people and vehicles traveling below.
The Board has also directed professional departments to inspect and preliminarily assess the current situation; coordinate with the project management and exploitation unit and hire an inspection consulting unit for specific assessment.
