Recently, 27 households in Nguyen Trai village, Linh Son commune (Thanh Hoa province) have had to live in fear, not daring to stay indoors during prolonged heavy rain.

A representative of Linh Son Commune People's Committee said that due to the impact of storm No. 5, a crack nearly 300m long and about 0.4m wide appeared in Phong Khong hill area, Nguyen Trai village. The height of the landslide is about 50m, the estimated volume of rock and soil is about 150,000m3.
Faced with the high risk of landslides, the locality has urgently evacuated 16 households to safety. The remaining 11 households located close to the landslide area were closely monitored and propagated to raise vigilance and prevent bad situations.

"The commune has reported to the Provincial People's Committee. Through practical assessment, the province has declared a state of emergency for this area. Currently, the locality is waiting for departments and branches to inspect and propose a handling plan to ensure the safety of people and property" - a representative of Linh Son Commune People's Committee informed.
After the incident, Linh Son commune set up barriers, put up warning signs of danger, and at the same time propagated to people and units in the area to proactively avoid and absolutely not enter the landslide area.

For 16 households subject to emergency evacuation, the authorities only allowed people to go home to clean up and move their property, and strictly prohibited staying overnight to ensure safety.
"Initially, the commune has sent forces to clear the dusty trees and clear the fallen trees on the hill to reduce the pressure of soil and rock to the residential area. When there is a specific handling plan, the authorities will deploy long-term stabilization solutions for affected households" - said a representative of Linh Son Commune People's Committee.
