On November 3, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the People's Committee of Quang Binh Commune, Thanh Hoa Province, said that after people reported the situation of Mr. Le Dinh Chuan's pig farm (in Xa Thu Village) causing serious odor pollution, the local government established an inspection team.

Through inspection, it was determined that the stench arising from Mr. Chuan's pig farm was true. The inspection team requested the farm owner to urgently deploy measures to overcome the odor.
To fully implement the provisions of the law on environmental protection, the inspection team requested Mr. Le Dinh Chuan's household to quickly renovate and fill the bottom of 3 bio- ponds with HDPE waterproofing material, to ensure that wastewater is not seeping into the environment.
Along with that, review the wastewater treatment system to promptly invest, supplement treatment stages to ensure that the wastewater after treatment meets the permitted standards; fully implement environmental legal documents according to regulations.
Local authorities require farm owners to strictly manage sources of wastewater, emissions, and odors; absolutely do not discharge untreated wastewater into the environment.

Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, in recent times, people in Xa Thu village, Quang Binh commune have expressed their frustration at a pig farm of thousands of pigs causing a foul smell, disrupting their lives.
According to the people, Mr. Le Dinh Chuan's pig farm not only affects Xa Thu village but also spreads to other villages of Quang Ninh commune. For many years, the problem of odor pollution has been persistent, causing people to " sit still and restless".
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the pig farm accused of causing pollution is located in the middle of the fields of Xa Thu village, with an area of thousands of square meters, surrounded by a fence.
It is known that Mr. Le Dinh Chuan's pig farm was built on an area of 11,840m2, operating since 2009, with a designed scale of 1,500 pigs/patch (2 patches/year), currently raising about 1,000 pigs. The distance from the farm to the nearest residential area is about 500m, with 2 rows of barns and many auxiliary works.
