National Highway 3 through Thai Nguyen province (populations overlapping with Ho Chi Minh Road) still have 2 traffic jams due to landslides on the positive slopes and negative slopes, including:
Location Km 120 + 700 (Thai Nguyen province), October 7, 2025, the route was opened at 12:00 on the same day. However, due to continued heavy rain in the area, causing mud to continue to spill onto the road, to ensure traffic safety according to the proposal of the Traffic Police Force (Provincial Police), the forces temporarily closed the road.
At this location, National Highway 1 and other units have coordinated with the Traffic Police to organize guard duty and traffic flow.
By the morning of October 8, due to heavy rain before, the embankment roof continued to have rocks and soil falling, endangering the repair work, so there were limitations in overcoming the consequences. It is expected to open to traffic by 2:00 p.m. on October 8.
Regarding negative slope landslides: Currently, at Km 200 +903/QL3, Cao Bang, there are 60 meters of roadbed slope that have been eroded, losing the road surface and a large landslide depth. To ensure the safety of people and vehicles, the road must be temporarily closed for large transport vehicles. Children's vehicles and motorbikes are temporarily allowed to circulate.
The Vietnam Road Administration has sent a working group to work with the National Highway 1 Project Management Area to organize the repair to ensure 01 lane of traffic at 12 locations of National Highway 3 that were hit by landslides.
As a result, by October 8, 2025, the 1-lane road has been temporarily opened to traffic. These locations include: Km 133+580; Km 133+750; Km 135+810; Km 138+500 - Km 138 +600; Km 139+520; Km 139+800 - Km 140; Km 141+80; Km 183+250; Km 197+440; Km203 + 540; Km 158+350; Km 182 + 700 (old QL3 route), Thai Nguyen province.
5 locations (Km198: +620; Km200+600; Km200 +750; Km201 +150; Km2020+150; Km202+850 and Km233+340) have damaged roadbeds due to subsidence, cross-cracking and risk of landslides, road surface. These locations are still open to one-way traffic.
3 flooded locations on October 7, 2025 on National Highway 3 overlapping with Ho Chi Minh Road have now receded and opened to normal traffic, including: Km 127+37 (Khe Thi Bridge); Km148 +700 - Km 148+800; Km 156 - Km 156+200.
The Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi BOT project (in Thai Nguyen province) is currently stuck at 4 locations including: Flooded at:
National Highway 3 under the BOT Project has newly arisen 02 flooded locations at Km 96+700 and Km 99 + 600, with deep flooding that does not ensure traffic.
Tan Long intersection between the end point (Km68) Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway with the area from Km 75+300 - Km 76, National Highway 3 and the starting point to Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi Expressway in the old Thai Nguyen City were flooded, causing traffic congestion. Currently, traffic must be diverted to avoid this location.

For flooded locations, there is still heavy rain in Thai Nguyen province, the water level on rivers and lakes is rising, so drainage is affected, so the BOT Investor Area I has instructed BOT investors to organize forces to be on duty to ensure traffic.
Regarding landslides: The locations at Km 97+ 700 with a landslide volume of about 2,500 m3 are currently being repaired by units, expected to open to traffic at 12:00 on October 8, 2025.
The landslide location at Km 104+200 alone had a landslide volume of about 750 m3, but was not blocked.
