Japanese auto joint venture Maruti Suzuki has officially revealed the first image of the e Vitara electric SUV. This is Suzuki's first electric vehicle developed for the Indian market, expected to be launched at the Auto Expo 2025 in early January 2025.
The e Vitara model is based on the eVX Concept and inherits many design details. The interior of Suzuki's new electric high-rise model has a 5-seat configuration and is positioned in the C-size crossover segment. The car was jointly developed with Toyota on a dedicated platform and is manufactured in India. In addition to the domestic market, the e Virata is also exported to Europe.
This new electric vehicle offers two battery pack options: 49 kWh for the standard version and 61 kWh for the premium version with AllGrip-e 4-wheel drive. However, Suzuki has not yet revealed the electric motor specifications or the battery charging capacity.
The company said it expects the e Vitara to be a major step forward in its electrification journey by combining affordable pricing with advanced features and infrastructure. The Japanese automaker also aims to establish a strong foothold in the growing electric vehicle market in India.
The Suzuki e Vitara is scheduled to hit Indian roads in March 2025. Booking dates and pricing will be announced closer to launch. Exports to Europe are expected to begin in mid-2025. In India, the e Vitara will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta EV (launched on January 17, 2025), MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv and Mahindra BE 6.
