The Traffic Police Department said that from 12:00 on November 19, 2025 to 12:00 on November 20, 2025, through extracting data from the A.I camera piloted for installation in Hanoi's inner city (intersection of Pham Van Bach - Hoang Quan Chi streets), 3 cases of going in the wrong direction were automatically detected.
These cases have been transferred to Hanoi City Police and functional units to carry out procedures for handling violations.

Fines from VND 10,000,000 to VND 14,000,000 for drivers who commit one of the following violations:
Driving a vehicle without observing, reducing speed or stopping to ensure safety according to regulations, causing a traffic accident; driving a vehicle at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit causing a traffic accident; entering a highway, stopping, parking, turning around, reversing, overtaking, changing direction, or changing lanes not in accordance with regulations causing a traffic accident; not going in the correct lane or lane, not keeping a safe distance between two vehicles as prescribed causing a traffic accident or entering a road with a sign prohibiting entry for vehicles being driven, going in the wrong direction of the road in one direction, going in the wrong direction on a road with a "No going in the wrong direction" causing a traffic accident.
Thus, for the violation of going in the wrong direction for drivers of motorbikes and mopeds, vehicles similar to motorbikes and vehicles similar to mopeds will be punished as follows:
Driving a motorbike in the wrong direction (without causing a traffic accident), the violator will be fined from VND 4,000,000 to VND 6,000,000, and will also have 02 points deducted from the driving license according to the provisions of Point a, Clause 13, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.
Driving a motorbike in the wrong direction (causing a traffic accident), the violator will be fined from VND 10,000,000 to VND 14,000,000 and have 10 points deducted from the driving license as prescribed in Point d, Clause 13, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.
Driving a motorbike in the wrong direction on a one-way street with a "No going in the wrong direction" sign will be fined up to VND 6,000,000. The fine is from 4,000,000 - 6,000,000 VND (the old regulation fined from 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 VND) for violators.
Fine for drivers of cars going in the wrong direction:
For the violation of driving in the wrong direction for car drivers, four-wheeled motorized passenger vehicles, four-wheeled motorized cargo vehicles and similar vehicles will be fined as follows:
driving in the wrong direction (not causing a traffic accident): The violator will be fined from VND 18,000,000 to VND 20,000,000 and have 04 points deducted from the driver's license, according to the provisions of Point b, Clause 16, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.
driving in the wrong direction (causing a traffic accident): The violator will be fined from VND 20,000,000 to VND 22,000,000 and have 10 points deducted from the driver's license, according to the provisions of Point d, Clause 16, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.
driving in the wrong direction on the highway: Violators will be fined from VND 30,000,000 to VND 40,000,000 (old regulations for cars driving in the wrong direction on the highway, reversing on the highway will be fined VND 16,000,000-18,000,000; turning around on the highway will be fined VND 10,000,000 - VND 12,000,000) and will have 10 points deducted from the driving license, according to the provisions of Point d, Clause 16, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.
If you go in the wrong direction on a one-way street, there is a sign "No going in the wrong direction": The violator will be fined from 18,000,000-20,000,000 VND (the old regulation fined from 4,000,000 - 6,000,000 VND).
