In the context of fans waiting for the return of the MR2 legend, Toyota suddenly introduced the GR Yaris Morizo RR, a limited edition rich in racing style, imbued with the personal imprint of Chairman Akio Toyoda.
The car was launched as a test version at the Tokyo Motor Show, quickly attracting the attention of high-performance car enthusiasts.
GR Yaris Morizo RR is a product developed from the real racing inspiration of Mr. Akio Toyoda, who often uses the nickname "Morizo" when participating in racing races.
After directly driving at the 24-hour Nürburgring endurance race in 2025, he proposed creating a GR Yaris version with a clearer race spirit, focusing on driving experience and sporty personality.
Compared to the standard GR Yaris, the Morizo RR version owns a series of exclusive exterior details. The car is painted in the Gravel Khaki color, combined with prominent matte copper rims and gold-painted brake calipers.
The hood and rear spoiler are both made of carbon fiber, directly inspired by racing cars, both reducing weight and increasing aerodynamics. A special symbolic detail is the signature of Akio Toyoda printed on the windshield.
The interior space continues to emphasize the sporty spirit. The steering wheel is smaller in diameter, microsized, bringing a solid grip when operating at high speeds.
The control buttons on the steering wheel are redesigned in the style of a rally car, along with separate gear changes. Yellow seams appear throughout the cabin, creating accents on the dominant gray background.
The GR Yaris Morizo RR is also equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster, integrated with a special "Morizo" driving mode.
This mode replaces the familiar Gravel mode, allowing the driver to maximize the power of the four-wheel drive system. Each car has an ordered license plate, affirming the limits and collected values.
In terms of operation, the car still uses the familiar 1.6L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing 257 horsepower, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The difference lies in the suspension system with adjustable shock absorbers based on data collected from test runs at the Nürburgring, helping the car to be more stable and accurate when cornering.
Toyota said that the GR Yaris Morizo RR will not be distributed in the US. The model is only sold in Japan and Europe, each market limited to 100 units.
