At about 9:35 am on July 18, at the intersection of Le Van Luong street and Le Van Thiem street, Thanh Xuan ward (Hanoi), a traffic accident occurred between a bus and a motorbike, killing a woman on the spot.
According to initial information, the accident occurred between a bus with license plate 29B-154. xx and a motorbike with license plate 29V1-552. xx, both traveling in the direction from Le Van Luong street to Lang Ha.
As a result, the woman driving the motorbike died at the scene.
The cause of the accident is being verified and clarified by the Investigation Police Agency of Hanoi City Police.

Regarding the incident, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (CSGT), Ministry of Public Security, said that besides waiting for the investigation conclusion, the accident also raises the issue of the traffic habits of many motorbike and motorcycle drivers.
According to the Traffic Police Department, many cases of motorbike drivers not driving close to the right side of traffic, not moving in the correct lane for two-wheeled vehicles but going into the car lane, even going into the lane reserved for BRT rapid buses. This is an act that potentially poses a risk of traffic unsafety and can lead to serious collisions.
The Traffic Police Department also noted that a part of traffic participants still have the mentality that "large cars must give way to small cars" or implicitly think that when a collision occurs, large vehicles will have to take responsibility. According to the Traffic Police Department, such awareness may lead to subjectivity when driving vehicles, increasing the risk of accidents.
In addition, the Traffic Police Department also said that traffic organization at some intersections still has points that need to be further researched and improved to limit conflicts between left-turning vehicles and straight-turning vehicles, thereby reducing the risk of accidents.
Regarding the situation in the clip recording the incident, the Traffic Police Department believes that it can be considered a sudden event; the bus driver could not have foreseen or was not forced to foresee this collision and the consequences that occurred.
