In September 2020, the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory project in Viet Hung Industrial Park, Ha Long City was started.
The car manufacturing and assembly project with a capacity of 120,000 cars/year is built on an area of 36.5 hectares with Thanh Cong Group as the investor.
On April 2, 2024, the factory received the first batch of components. The shipment included steel components for car bodies, serving the testing process of the welding workshop line at the factory.
The test run was conducted by engineers from Chropynska - the main contractor, in coordination with engineers and workers from Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory.
The test run phase aims to evaluate the accuracy of the fixture system, which is very important in creating a car body that meets Skoda Auto's global quality standards.
Up to now, the factory has basically completed the main construction items, including: welding, painting, assembly workshop systems, test track, compressed air station, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) station and auxiliary works.
Currently, experts are fine-tuning equipment, testing chassis systems and automation lines to ensure international standards.
According to information from Thanh Cong Group, the factory is expected to be inaugurated and officially put into commercial operation in the second quarter of 2025. The first products will be SUV and B-class Sedan models under the Skoda brand that will be launched on the market.
In phase 2, Thanh Cong Group will build additional stamping and welding factories and auxiliary factories to improve production capacity.
At the working session with the Standing Committee of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee in December 2024, the leaders of Thanh Cong Group proposed that the province continue to support investors in land procedures; in land mines for leveling the infrastructure project of Viet Hung Industrial Park; invest in completing the connecting traffic infrastructure system; supply electricity to the 110kV transformer station of Viet Hung Industrial Park; support investors in implementing the worker housing project; create favorable conditions for land funds to build exhibition areas, introduce and test automobile products, etc.
The operation of Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory not only marks Quang Ninh becoming the center of the country's automobile industry, but also realizes the goal of increasing the localization rate and self-reliance in the automobile manufacturing industry in Vietnam.
