On December 26, representatives of the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that in 2025, the number of newly registered cars of all kinds increased by 27% compared to 2024.
Accordingly, from December 15, 2024 to December 14, 2025, police units nationwide recorded a total of 624,300 newly registered cars. Compared to 2024 (newly registered 491,394 cars), this number of vehicles increased by 27%.
5 localities with the largest number of newly registered cars in 2025 include: Ho Chi Minh City (102,354 vehicles); Hanoi (88,165 vehicles); Hai Phong (31,436 vehicles); Bac Ninh (30,721 vehicles); Phu Tho (26,930 vehicles).
For motorbikes, in 2025, people nationwide registered more than 3.23 million new cars. Compared to 2024 (nearly 2.4 million new cars registered), it increased by 34.9%.
The provinces and cities with the most new motorbike registrations include: Ho Chi Minh City (290,570 vehicles); Hanoi (255,658 vehicles); An Giang (157,699 vehicles); Dong Nai (135,332 vehicles); Lam Dong (130,093 vehicles).
Also according to the Traffic Police Department, in 2025, more than 122,000 trucks and container trucks were newly registered. This number increased by 35% compared to 2024 (89,943 vehicles).
Traffic police said that currently people can easily access and carry out administrative procedures related to vehicle registration and management through the installation of VNeTraffic, VNeID and Public Service Portal.
Recently, the Ministry of Public Security has proposed to apply preferential policies, creating motivation for citizens to actively participate in services in the digital environment.
In which, citizens are exempted and reduced fees and charges when carrying out online administrative procedures. For example, they are reduced by 10% of tax and registration fee when carrying out procedures: Registration, transfer of name, movement of cars and motorbikes on the VNeID platform (the current collection level is from 0.5-15% on the transfer value).
The drafting agency also proposed a 10% reduction in personal income tax and registration fees when transferring real estate through the VNeID application.
The Ministry of Public Security proposes to exempt 100% of fees and charges for 66 basic and essential administrative procedures when performed online such as: Birth certificate, death certificate, marriage, residence; re-issuance of registration, license plates, vehicle documents, driver's license, re-issuance of ID card, construction permit...
