Honda is working on a new all-electric vehicle called the 0 Series, and the Japanese automaker has also revealed some new technology on the upcoming electric vehicle (EV), with capabilities that will make its new EV sound and feel like the NSX supercar.
The famous Japanese car company Honda said that the battery case used in the 0 series electric car will be 6% thinner than other competitors. The design will be more space-saving and made from aluminum. This is the result of a large molding process.
The company has also unveiled a suite of software development for its upcoming electric vehicles, and plans to develop its own operating system architecture that can be upgraded via over-the-air updates.
It is known that future Honda electric vehicles will be equipped with a suite of advanced driver assistance systems. On the other hand, the 0 Series will have level 3 "eyes-free" driving capabilities thanks to a series of cameras, radar, sonar and lidar sensors.
Other software developments are more focused on practicality. Honda's voice assistant will be enhanced with behavioral prediction algorithms to better understand user intent. Infotainment will also learn to make suggestions based on the environment and observed behavior.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will learn from driver behavior to predict and avoid risks more accurately. Honda said it aims to be the first company in the world to expand the application of eye-free functions to all driving situations.
The Japanese automaker also mimics the new electric vehicle line as gasoline-powered vehicles through sound and vibration to make the ride more enjoyable and comfortable for users. Each option produces a unique, realistic engine sound when pressing the accelerator, vibrates the driver's seat, and changes the digital instrument cluster display to mimic the instrument cluster of that vehicle.
