A colleague in the flooded area of Phu Yen (old) sent a very heartbreaking message: "Some places have sold used clothes, many things are unusable, people throw them on the roadside, into trash".
Our people, almost a conditional reflection, whenever they want to support people in flood-affected areas, the first thing is often to collect old clothes with the desire to share a little warmth - both literally and literally.
However, due to the often rushed or un select collection, used clothes sent to people in flooded areas sometimes fall into ironic situations: there are many things that people cannot use because they are not suitable, especially old underwear, colorful dresses, or damaged items...
The items were sent out with the purpose of helping and bringing warmth to the people, but in the end became a burden, becoming something that had to be thrown away by the guards.
It is worth mentioning that the situation of providing unusable old clothes has been repeated for decades, even though the press and social networks have spoken out every storm and flood season.
People often say "giving is not the same as giving". But in the story of flood relief, sometimes it is necessary to say the opposite: the way of giving is not equal to giving - that is, giving the right thing that people really need.
The reality from flooded areas over the years shows that people's needs are never fixed but depend on each stage. When the water is still deep, people need things they can eat immediately to fight hunger, especially dry food, milk, bottled drinking water, clothes to prevent cold, sanitary banks for women...
When the water has receded, people may need rice, instant noodles, canned foods, spices, etc. When the water has receded, they really need cash to proactively repair their house, buy items, crops, and seeds...
It is very important to make relief maps to avoid focusing on one point or missing the necessary location. Local authorities should proactively build a "demand table" at each time so that volunteer groups know exactly what to buy and give to provide practical support to the right people and places.
In particular, in addition to the immediate needs of the people, schools and students in flooded areas also need support with office equipment, books, and learning tools so that teachers and students can return to class as soon as possible.
These are things that many volunteer groups rarely think about, but are an urgent need in the recovery period of the community after the flood.
It will be very practical and beneficial, truly a "ment beyond measure", if the giving of kind-hearted people is always timely, timely, appropriate and in line with the needs of the recipient.
Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods

People across the Central and Northern mountainous provinces are struggling day and night to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property that cannot be mentioned...
