On February 25, at Action Program No. 06-CTr/TU implementing Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong said that Hanoi intends to order the Proton MEVION S250-FIT cancer treatment super machine system.
According to Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong, the ordering and transfer of technology to operate the new generation Proton MEVION S250-FIT cancer treatment system will be implemented together with the Hanoi Oncology Hospital Project, facility 2.
This super machine was licensed by the FDA in October 2025. Vietnam is currently the second country outside the US to access the entire system, software and technology in the highest version. Previously, Tam Anh General Hospital signed a contract to purchase and transfer operating technology on February 18 during the working trip of General Secretary To Lam to the United States.

Proton cancer treatment system MEVION S250-FIT is priced at about 20,000 billion VND manufactured by Mevion Group (USA). This is a system developed almost optimally for proton radiation therapy - a cancer treatment method that is more effective and safer than conventional radiation therapy. Unlike photon radiation therapy with X-rays passing through the body, proton radiation therapy allows the beam to "stop at its right place" at the tumor.
The new generation AI integrated system opens up opportunities for deep, complex cancer cases such as in the head, neck, brain, spinal cord, lung, liver... ; while better protecting important surrounding organs and having fewer side effects than traditional X-ray radiation therapy. This technology also shortens radiation therapy time, helping patients treat in a more comfortable and safe position.
Hanoi's plan to order the new generation Proton MEVION S250-FIT cancer treatment system shows its determination to take the lead in implementing Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo towards the goal of building a synchronous and modern Capital health system; becoming a regional-level health, science and technology and digital transformation center; ensuring people have access to high-quality medical services.
