On August 15, Vinh Long General Hospital said that patient S.T (49 years old) had a duodenal rupture and was given emergency care more than 15 days ago, had passed the critical stage, was in stable health and was discharged from the hospital.
Previously, late on July 30, Mr. T. was hospitalized with severe abdominal pain, with a wound on his left hand after a traffic accident. CT Scanner results showed that the patient had a ruptured duodenal D3, severe peritoneal inflammation - a dangerous closed abdominal injury, and had to undergo emergency surgery.
The hospital immediately activated a red alert. The surgery lasted more than 3 hours, the team led by Dr. CK1 Tran Van Ngoai performed many complex techniques to suture the rupture, reconnect the duodenum and drain the abdominal cavity. After a week, the patient ate normally and was discharged after 14 days of treatment.
