Patient's family understands the sharing of doctors and nurses
Last week, doctors at E Hospital witnessed the kindness and "Giving is forever" gesture of the donor and the donor's family that has prolonged the lives of many people in a serious illness.
This is the second time that E Hospital has successfully implemented the technique of removing multiple organs including heart, liver and cornea from a brain-dead donor.
More than 6 days ago, Hospital E received a serious emergency case. That was a male patient who unfortunately had a traffic accident in Hanoi and was hospitalized in a deep coma and critical condition.
The patient was quickly taken to the emergency room and resuscitated for intensive care, but the patient's condition did not improve, the coma deepened, he lost his reflexes and was at risk of brain death.
Immediately after the Tissue and Body Donation Association of Hospital E received information about the patient at risk of brain death, medical staff went to discuss the situation with the treating doctor to grasp the information and decide to approach and advise, mobilize the patient's family.
Through many hospital-wide consultations, with the assessment that the patient is at high risk of brain death, the Hospital has explained the patient's prognosis to the family, discussed with the patient's family about the noble gesture of donating human tissues and organs of the country, with the purpose of bringing life to patients who are struggling with the disease day and night.
The patient's family understood the sharing of doctors and medical staff and expressed their desire to donate the patient's organs to save lives and bring life to others.
On the night of June 23, the patient showed signs of poor performance, which could affect the tissue and donated organs. The Board of Directors of E Hospital, the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center and coordinating hospitals such as 108, Viet Duc Hospital, Vinmec Hospital, Central Eye Hospital held an emergency meeting that night and decided to perform multi-organ surgery from a brain-dead patient that night.
The medical team of E Hospital was busy racing day and night with the time to be ready to perform this "special" surgery - a race against time. All work with the highest concentration.
"The hospital's medical team is always aware that any mistake will be at fault for the donor and patients who have the opportunity to receive organs" - a member of the surgical team of Hospital E shared.

Fed up with the moment of saying goodbye to bringing the organ donor to the cemetery in his hometown
To perform each collection of organs from brain-dead donors, all preparations must be meticulously and carefully conducted. In the early morning of June 24, each set of donor's tissue and organs was transferred to hospitals for transplant to patients.
According to the coordination of the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, tissues and organs of brain-dead donors at Hospital E are transferred to hospitals for transplantation to other patients. At each hospital, the operating room is lit up and doctors perform transplants overnight.
The heart of an organ donor was transplanted to 1 patient at Viet Duc Hospital; The liver was divided into two: The left liver liver was transferred to Vinmec Hospital, the right liver was transferred to the National Eye Center 108; The two corneas were transferred to the Central Eye Bank - Eye Hospital for transplant to 2 other patients.
The success of each transplant will light up hope for patients waiting for a transplant. In particular, E Hospital is preparing to implement an organ transplant project right at E Hospital in the coming time, in order to multiply the lives of other patients who need organ transplants every day.
On the weekend, in the pouring rain, representatives of E Hospital, relatives of the organ donor and friends brought his body back to the hometown cemetery.
It is also a gratitude to families who have made a noble gesture of donating organs to a brain-dead loved one, helping them feel that their loved one is still living a peaceful life.
That noble gesture of organ donors and their families has touched everyone's heart, making people understand more, no matter how harsh life is, there are people who are willing to suppress pain, give their lives...
