On December 31, Vinh Long Provincial Department of Health held a conference to summarize the work in 2025 and deploy tasks for 2026, comprehensively assessing the results achieved in the context of merging the health system of the three provinces.
2025 is identified as a pivotal year for the health sector, both ensuring smooth medical examination and treatment activities, and consolidating the organizational structure, maintaining professional stability in the important transition period after the merger.
The whole sector recovered strongly after the pandemic, effectively controlled the epidemic, and improved the capacity for examination and treatment. Healthcare resource targets all exceeded the plan, with 10.6 doctors and 32 beds per 10,000 people, clearly improving access to services.
The management of medical and pharmaceutical practice has been strengthened with 2,389 health facilities operating stably. Digital transformation is a bright spot when 100% of facilities connect health insurance data, deploy chip-attached CCCD, and a team of nearly 12,000 high-quality health workers.

Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hang - Director of Vinh Long Provincial Department of Health affirmed that the achievements in 2025 are a solid launching pad for the next development phase.
Entering 2026, the health sector identifies six breakthrough focuses, first of all, perfecting institutions, focusing on advising on the promulgation of specific mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles in practice.
The sector is determined to promote specialized medicine, implement the Project to develop Vinh Long General Hospital, Tra Vinh General Hospital and Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital into specialized hospitals.
At the same time, the sector focuses on improving grassroots health capacity, striving for over 80% of the technical list at commune health stations, and at the same time consolidating the preventive health and disease control system.
Comprehensive digital transformation is identified as a breakthrough, with the goal of 100% of medical facilities deploying electronic medical records, all people having electronic health records, and promoting cashless payments.
The health sector will put into operation new models such as stroke and dementia care, digital health stations, outpatient emergency centers, family doctor clinics and elderly care centers.

Speaking to direct the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and praised the outstanding achievements of 2025, and highly appreciated the proactive and responsible spirit of the entire health sector.
Ms. Muoi pointed out the challenges facing the health sector, such as complicated epidemics, climate change and increased healthcare needs, and at the same time requested innovation, putting patients at the center.
Towards 2026, Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi requested the sector to drastically transform digitally, improve medical ethics, service style, and affirm its key role in socio-economic development and protecting people's health.
