Along the coastal route, many hotels and guesthouses are closed. Some works are degraded after a long time of not being used, walls are peeling, glass doors are broken, and the campus is deserted.
Local people said that business activities have begun to slow down since the deployment of site clearance to serve planning. The number of visitors to Quat Lam during the 2025 tourist season decreased sharply, mainly visitors returning during the day, and few overnight stays due to lack of synchronous services and accommodation facilities.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (in Hai Thinh commune, Ninh Binh province) shared: "In 2025, the Quat Lam area was affected by storms, big waves, and rising sea levels flooding in, causing the infrastructure of our tourist business locations to degrade even more. In addition, some areas here still have waste, causing the image of tourism to be somewhat affected.
Faced with the above situation, many businesses in Quat Lam hope that the government will soon have synchronous solutions in upgrading infrastructure, embellishing landscapes, improving the environment and attracting investment to restore tourism activities, helping Quat Lam soon regain its attractiveness as before.
Previously, Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee issued the Sea Tourism Development Plan for the period 2026 - 2030. In which, the period 2026 - 2027, implement solutions to protect ecosystem resources and marine environment; investigate, assess, and classify sea tourism resources in communes; organize plans for management and treatment of waste; raise community awareness to protect the marine environment. At the same time, organize research activities, build and develop the brand "Ninh Binh Sea Tourism - Green, safe, quality and friendly destination".
According to the plan of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, some localities with beautiful beaches and good water environment quality will be selected to develop into the main sea tourism product, and at the same time study positioning and renewing the sea tourism brands of Quat Lam and Thinh Long. Forming 2 sea resort tourism models associated with community tourism and craft villages in the areas of Hai Thinh, Giao Ninh and Giao Minh communes.
