According to the provisions of Article 27 of the 2020 Residence Law on conditions for temporary residence registration as follows:
Article 27. Conditions for temporary residence registration
1. Citizens who come to live legally outside the scope of the commune-level administrative unit where they have registered their permanent residence for work, study or for other purposes for 30 days or more must register for temporary residence.
2. The maximum temporary residence period is 2 years and can continue to be extended many times
3. Citizens are not allowed to register for new temporary residence at the place of residence as prescribed in Article 23 of this Law.
Accordingly, in comparison with the above regulations, it is not necessary to register temporary residence when changing residence, people only register temporary residence when:
- Live in another place outside the scope of the commune-level administrative unit where they have registered their permanent residence
- Have lived elsewhere for 30 days or more.
If people change their residence but do not meet the above two conditions, they do not need to register for temporary residence.
