At the 24th session - the last regular session of the 10th term of the Da Nang City People's Council, term 2021-2026, delegate Le Van Dung - Deputy Head of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council said that many key projects are facing difficulties due to lack of soil, stone, and sand for filling. Demand increases while supply is limited, causing material prices to increase 2-3 times, greatly affecting the progress and quality of the project. There is a phenomenon of businesses speculating, hoarding, and making prices.
The delegate suggested that the city review and adjust the planning of construction materials exploitation, add potential mines to the planning, and agree with urban and housing planning. At the same time, speed up procedures for granting new mines, increase the capacity of existing mines, research on replacement materials and recycle.
According to Director of the Department of Construction Nguyen Ha Nam, currently, works using public investment capital basically ensure filling materials thanks to the coordination plan between projects. The city does not have a licensed fill mine, so coordinating surplus land from other projects is an effective temporary solution.
Currently, the main source of construction sand is taken from Dai Son commune mine (Pha Le Investment and Trading Company Limited) and Dai Hoa commune mine (Quang Cu Company Limited). However, Dai Hoa mine has expired since June 6, 2025, while Dai Son mine has been temporarily interrupted due to many reasons but has now resumed exploitation.
The Department of Construction is continuing to review, evaluate, and synthesize the demand for construction sand materials in the area; monitoring and regularly grasping market developments and fluctuations in sand material prices for construction to proactively find solutions to stabilize prices.
The city has also assigned relevant departments and branches to strengthen market management, strictly handle speculative acts, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases according to regulations.
