The Son My 1 Industrial Park (IP) project in Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province was approved by the Prime Minister in 2017 and started construction at the end of August 2022.
The progress of compensation and site clearance for Son My 1 Industrial Park project until June 10, 2025 has had some changes, but is still slow, affecting the overall progress of the project.
In the priority area of 375.6 hectares, Ham Tan district has so far cleared 86.8 hectares. The Provincial People's Committee has also decided to lease land to the investor in the first phase with an area of 76.6 hectares. The remaining area of 288.8 hectares is still being urgently implemented, including 69 households and 8 organizations.
Regarding the compensation progress for households, the District Compensation Council has approved a support plan for 74 households/51 hectares in priority areas. For organizations, although the plan has been approved and a notice of invitation has been sent to receive compensation, so far no unit has agreed to receive the money. Ham Tan District is continuing to mobilize and propagate for organizations to coordinate in handing over the site.
In the remaining area, the district has issued a notice of land reclamation for 183 households and 5 organizations with a total area of 211.8 hectares. Currently, 44 households and 1 organization (49.2 ha) have been inventoried and are being considered for legality for other cases.
Regarding the resettlement area, the Department of Finance has approved the technical economic report of the Son My Resettlement Area Technical Infrastructure Project (phase 1) with a scale of 1.4 hectares. It is expected to arrange about 76 resettlement plots for households whose land is recovered in the Son My 1 Industrial Park project. The District People's Committee has also approved land prices and approved compensation plans for 7 households. The dossier is being completed for appraisal and approval according to regulations.
According to Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Hong Hai, the Son My 1 Industrial Park project has a very slow progress in compensation and site clearance. He requested the locality to focus on propaganda so that people have land in the area to agree to receive compensation and hand over the site to the investor to implement the project. Relevant departments and branches coordinate to support localities in accelerating site clearance, ensuring project implementation progress.
When completed, Son My 1 Industrial Park project will become a power center of the province, attracting investment in developing energy industries, industries, logistics... And is very important for socio-economic development, industrialization and modernization in the Southern region and Binh Thuan province.
