The North-South high-speed railway project through Ha Tinh is over 103 km long, passing through 18 communes and 5 wards. The whole province plans to reclaim nearly 765 hectares of land of all kinds, affecting 2,000 households, of which 35 resettlement areas must be built to relocate 1,279 households.
The total estimated construction area of resettlement areas is about 87.4 hectares, with an estimated cost of about 1,100 billion VND.
Localities in Ha Tinh are implementing steps for site clearance.
Mr. Tran Nam Vu - Vice Chairman of Song Tri Ward People's Committee - said that the locality is reviewing and recording the current status to serve the inventory, counting and management of construction order to facilitate compensation and site clearance in the future.
Mr. Vo Ta Cuong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Hoa commune - said that the North - South high-speed railway project through the area is expected to be about 6.7km long, affecting 581 households, requiring the relocation of 239 graves and resettlement for 112 households.
"Currently, the commune is assigning a specialized department to review the resettlement area plan to submit to the province for approval," said Mr. Cuong.

On July 22, Mr. Le Anh Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Ha Tinh province - said that currently, the site clearance work for the North-South high-speed railway project through Ha Tinh is in the stage of handing over the preliminary documents of the site clearance boundary, reviewing the resettlement volume based on the preliminary design documents in the feasibility study report.
According to Mr. Son, localities have also been recording the current status of site clearance boundaries for storage and as evidence to serve compensation work, avoiding the situation where people intentionally illegally build or expand to demand compensation.
Also according to the Deputy Director of the Ha Tinh Department of Construction, on August 19, Ha Tinh will start construction of the first resettlement area in Ha Huy Tap ward. By October 2025, the province will simultaneously start construction of the remaining resettlement areas.
Strive to basically complete the construction of resettlement areas before June 2026 in order to hand over at least 80% of the site to the Project before December 2026 and hand over the entire site before December 2027, meeting the general progress requirements of the Government.
Currently, the Department of Construction has proactively compiled difficulties and problems and issued reports and proposals to the Ministry of Construction and the Railway Project Management Board for resolution, in order to speed up progress.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment has advised the Provincial People's Committee to send a document to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Construction to supplement a specific mechanism to shorten the time for land compensation procedures related to the North-South high-speed railway project through this locality.
