On July 11, the working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep had a working session with the People's Committee of Nghe An province on the progress of the Ban Mong Reservoir Project Phase 1 - a key irrigation project in the North Central region.
The project has a total investment of more than VND 5,552 billion, of which Nghe An province is assigned the task of building a system of pumping stations and canals from the Hieu River and implementing compensation, resettlement, and site clearance in the communes of Quy Chau, Chau Binh, Tam Hop, and Nghia Mai.
Up to now, the province has completed site clearance at Co Ba lake (Chau Binh commune) below elevation +71.86m and is continuing to reclaim 390ha of land. The Project Management Board has counted about 3,496 plots of land, approved compensation in 2 phases with a budget of nearly 24 billion VND, reclaiming more than 27 hectares of production land in Quy Chau and Chau Binh communes. In Nghia Mai and Tam Hop, an area of over 46 hectares has also been counted, priced, and compensation records have been established.

Director of Nghe An Province Department of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Quoc Viet said that the department will mobilize staff to "hand the hand" to support localities; on July 11, specialized departments and the Project Management Board will work directly in Chau Binh Commune to remove obstacles in compensation and site clearance.
Regarding the construction progress, the No. 1 auxiliary dam has been basically completed, the volume of the complex reaches the elevation of +81.2m, ensuring safety during the flood season, expected to be completed before July 30, 2025. Units are focusing on constructing auxiliary dam 3, striving to exceed the elevation of +76.4m by the end of July 2025.
Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De said that the province is giving strong instructions, requiring localities and related units to focus on completing the entire volume of site clearance, ensuring project progress. At the same time, coordinate to carefully prepare the inauguration ceremony of the Ban Mong Reservoir Unit project scheduled to be held on August 19, 2025.
