The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has just approved the task of planning the Nam Song Duong urban subdivision ( subdivision 2) at a scale of 1/2,000. This is the basis for preparing zoning plans, detailed plans, and project investment and construction management.
The planning area has a total area of over 12,800 hectares, stretching across the wards of Tri Qua, Song Lieu, Thuan Thanh, Tram Lo, Ninh Xa and the communes of Lam Thao, Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Trung Chinh, Trung Kenh
This planning area borders Hanoi Expressway and Gia Binh International Airport to the North, borders Hai Phong City to the East, and borders Hung Yen Province to the South.
Nam Song Duong is positioned as a multi-functional airport urban area of international stature.

The current population is about 200,000 people, and it is expected that by 2050, the permanent population will reach 300,000-350,000 people.

About 40 km from Hanoi, Gia Binh International Airport (Bac Ninh) started construction in December 2024 with a total area of nearly 1,900 hectares. According to the plan, the airport will be basically completed and initially put into operation from the end of 2026 to serve the 2027 APEC Summit.
By 2050, the airport's capacity will reach about 50 million passengers/year and 2.5 million tons of cargo/year.
