Robert Lewandowski scored twice, while Lamine Yamal and Raphinha each scored as Barcelona capped a memorable week with a 4-0 win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Hansi Flick's side also ended their opponents' 42-match unbeaten run in La Liga.
Veteran striker Lewandowski scored 2 goals in just 3 minutes in the second half to give Blaugrana a big advantage. In fact, if he had been more careful with his chances, the Polish striker would have scored at least 2 more goals.
The win over Los Blancos came just three days after Barca beat Bayern Munich 4-1 in the Champions League. Now, after 11 rounds, the Blaugrana are six points ahead of the reigning La Liga champions.
Barcelona fielded their second youngest El Clasico side in 80 years and their youngest since 1956. However, the difference was 36-year-old Lewandowski.
The Polish player had a great finish in the 54th minute after Marc Casado's through ball. Three minutes later, Lewandowski continued to head past Lunin from Alejandro Balde's left-wing cross.
"I think we can celebrate in the next few days. We played a great game, but we are also thinking about the next game. I am very happy with my two goals and the way we played. It was impressive.
"The most important thing is how we play as a team. We attack and score more goals. Even when we are in a difficult situation, the team still has ideas to solve the situation" - Lewandowski said after the win over Real.
Lewandowski's form was sometimes criticised last season, but he has been excellent under his former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick. The striker has now scored 14 La Liga goals in just 11 appearances this season, with 17 strikes in all competitions.
The number of goals Lewandowski scored is equal to the total number of goals scored by Real Madrid trio Mbappe, Vinicius and Rodrygo combined.
Lewandowski benefits from receiving more of the ball in the opposition penalty area. The explosive form of Yamal or Raphinha also has a positive impact on the Polish striker's performance.
Yamal became the youngest player to score in an El Clasico, while Raphinha continued his rise after scoring a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
"I don't want to talk about titles now. It's important to take it step by step. Winning at the Bernabeu was a big step forward, but we still have to work hard. At the moment, we haven't won any titles.
What Hansi Flick is doing is amazing, not just for me, for everyone. Every player feels comfortable with Hansi Flick, we showed that today. We understand each other, even without words" - the Polish striker added.
