On the morning of March 22, the leader of Dong A Thanh Hoa club confirmed the signing of a contract with coach Tomislav Steinbruckner.
The Croatian coach will join the Thanh team and lead his students right from round 16 of V.League. Mr. Steinbruckner's debut match was against Hanoi FC at Hang Day Stadium.
"We have learned about coach Tomislav Steinbruckner after deciding to part ways with predecessor Velizar Popov. After the match with Hoang Anh Gia Lai, the new team leaders started talking more.
When we felt that the two sides' visions were similar, we negotiated a contract," said Mr. Cao Hoang Duc - Executive Director of Dong A Thanh Hoa Club.
Before joining Thanh Hoa, coach Tomislav Steinbruckner worked for a very long time for NK Osijek - a famous team in Croatia. He coached from the U17 and U19 teams, temporarily took over and then took on the role of captain. After that, Mr. Tomislav moved to Malaysia to work for Terengganu FC.
Here, the Croatian coach helped Terengganu achieve good results when in the top 3 and going deep in the cup competitions. However, this team has yet to overcome the two "super strengths" of Malaysian football, Johor Darul Ta'zim and Selangor. In October 2024, the 1966-born strategist parted ways with Terengganu.
Coach Tomislav Steinbruckner once led Terengganu against Thanh Hoa in the 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Club Cup. In this match, the two teams drew 2-2 and the Malaysian representative played quite impressively.
