Assistant Dinh Hong Vinh will not be able to accompany the U22 Vietnam team in the training session to prepare for the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship.
The reason is that he had to go to Japan to study a coaching training course for the Pro - the highest level in the AFC coaching system.
Mr. Vinh's absence has caused the U22 Vietnam coaching staff to adjust personnel. Accordingly, assistant Nguyen Cong Manh (former head coach of Binh Duong club) will replace Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh in the coming time, and will also be the only Vietnamese assistant to join coach Kim Sang-sik in the upcoming tournament.
Previously, Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh held the role of Acting Head Coach of Vietnam U22 in two international friendly tournaments CFA Team China 2024 and 2025, in the context of coach Kim Sang-sik being busy leading the national team.
Under the leadership of the coach from Binh Dinh, U22 Vietnam has had good performances and is highly appreciated when facing strong opponents such as China, Korea or Uzbekistan.
According to the plan, U23 Vietnam will gather again on June 26 in Ba Ria - Vung Tau to prepare for the journey to conquer the U23 Southeast Asian Championship. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will practice until July 14 before leaving for Indonesia.
In the group stage, Vietnam will meet Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22.
Previously, on June 20, coach Kim Sang-sik announced the list of 35 players called up for this training session. This is the first time the Korean coach has directly led U22 Vietnam in an official tournament.
In the list of players called up, U22 Vietnam has almost all the best faces in this age group. This includes 8 players who were in the 2023 U23 Southeast Asian Championship squad such as Trung Kien, Hong Phuc, Van Truong, Van Khang, Xuan Tien, Dang Duong, Long Vu and Quoc Viet.
In addition, new factors were also given opportunities such as Cong Phuong, Thanh Dat, Ngoc My, Van Thuan..., two overseas Vietnamese players Alex Bui, Viktor Le as well as Dinh Bac's return after a period of injury treatment.
