Quang Nam Club officially announced that it will not participate in the 2025-2026 V.League season. The team will merge with SHB Da Nang, including the first team, youth training center and management department.
This decision was made in the context that Quang Nam could not ensure the necessary finances and personnel to prepare for the new season with only two weeks left to start.
Previously, at least 2 sponsors expressed their desire to invest and were willing to spend about 100 billion VND to revive the club, but the lack of force, pressure to stay in the league and unclear benefits made the salvage plans impossible to implement in time.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) are forced to promote the progress of the tournament, cannot continue to delay for a team.
Quang Nam's withdrawal forced the tournament organizers to activate a replacement plan. According to the announcement No. 1585/TB-LDBDVN dated July 24, 2025 of VFF, the Executive Committee unanimously approved the second option: Selecting a replacement team to supplement participation in tournaments outside of professional and technical competitions in 2025-2026.
First Division teams such as Truong Tuoi Dong Nai (formerly Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc) and PVF-CAND were all asked for their opinions on participating in the V.League
However, according to Lao Dong's research, Cong Phuong's team refused, because they were not ready in terms of expertise or strength. Despite having many notable new players such as Xuan Truong, Minh Vuong, Van Khoa or Thanh Minh, this team still lacks foreign players and needs more time to prepare.
Meanwhile, PVF-CAND is said to be more ready. The source said that this team is rushing to complete its force and may accept to participate in V.League 2025-2026.
In case this option is finalized, VPF may not reorganize the draw ceremony, but only need to adjust Quang Nam's competition code to PVF-CAND. At that time, they will face Song Lam Nghe An in the opening match of the season.
However, all information is still waiting for official confirmation from VPF, VFF and PVF-CAND. The change of the team participating in the tournament close to the opening day puts a lot of pressure on the organization and preparation of the entire tournament, especially in the context that V.League 2025-2026 is expected to improve the quality of competition and explode.
