The U17 Vietnam team will face U17 Hong Kong (China) in the 3rd match of Group C of the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers. This is considered the first real challenge for coach Roland and his team, after two easy victories over Singapore and the Northern Mariana Islands.

However, coach Roland is still cautious ahead of the match against U17 Hong Kong (China) and stressed that this is "a final". Therefore, the coaching staff carefully analyzed the opponent to aim for the goal of 3 points.
On the other side, although not as highly rated as the home team, U17 Hong Kong (China) is still a well-organized opponent. After 2 rounds, they won U17 Macau (China) and only lost 0-1 to Malaysia.
This team is likely to continue to choose a deep-lying and quick counter-attacking style of play, trying to narrow the space of activities of Vietnamese attackers. Their biggest weakness is the final handling stage, when their ability to metabolize opportunities is limited.
