On the evening of November 21, the Vietnamese women's futsal team met Thailand again in the final match of the 2024 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship. Previously, in the final match of the group stage, the Vietnamese girls lost 0-3 to this opponent. However, Thuy Trang and her teammates transformed, played impressively and beat Thailand with a score of 2-1, thereby winning the championship in this year's tournament.
This title is not only a common achievement of the team but also helps player Tran Thi Thuy Trang add a noble trophy to her huge collection of titles. Thuy Trang is a rare player of Vietnamese women's football to win the regional championship in both 11-a-side and futsal.
Previously, the player from Quang Nam also won the 2013 Southeast Asian futsal tournament with the Vietnamese women's futsal team - then called the pre-SEA Games tournament.
After that, the midfielder born in 1988 gradually affirmed her name on the field and temporarily said goodbye to the futsal arena. She won 3 SEA Games gold medals, 8 national championships and participated in the World Cup with the Vietnamese women's team (11-a-side football). Thuy Trang also won the title of best player of the national championship in both the grass field and indoor events.
This is a worthy achievement for the persistent career, surpassing all limits of the former captain of the Vietnamese women's football team.
After the 2023 Women's World Cup, Thuy Trang left the Vietnam women's team to devote herself to the Ho Chi Minh City women's team, then returned to the futsal field. At the age of 36, the former midfielder of the Vietnam women's team still impresses with her intelligent, fiery playing style and cunning ability to compete.
She is the factor that gives the Vietnamese futsal team the courage to stand firm in difficult times, and is also a great source of inspiration for the current generation of young players.
