Speaking at a press conference before the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's U19 Championship, head coach of the Vietnam U19 Women's U19 Team - Mr. Okiyama Masahiko shared 3 important goals that the team is aiming for
Coach Okiyama Masahiko emphasized: First of all, we consider the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship as an important preparation step for the 2025 U20 Asian Women's Qualifiers in August.
Second, the whole team will try their best to play well in each match, aiming for the championship. The tournament is held at home, we want to bring joy and pride to the fans. Finally, I hope the teams in the region will develop together more strongly".
In the opening match, U19 Vietnam women's team will face a strong opponent, U19 Myanmar women's team. Evaluating the opponent, Mr. Okiyama frankly admitted: To be honest, I dont have much information about Myanmar as they use which team, how outstanding players they have.
However, we will prepare carefully to be in the best condition when entering the match. Tactical options will be flexibly adjusted depending on actual developments on the field".
When asked about the weather conditions in Ho Chi Minh City, the Japanese coach shared that the team had been practicing here for a long time, so they had somewhat adapted to the erratic sun and rain.
Regarding the championship goal, Mr. Okiyama said that this is a completely reasonable orientation: "We have many quality players, they do a good job of teaching during the preparation process.
In particular, this generation of players has a modern football mindset, and the ability to absorb very quickly. I believe this is a team capable enough to aim for the championship".
The 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Tournament will take place from June 9 to June 18. In this tournament, U19 Vietnam women's team is in Group A with Myanmar, Laos and Timor Leste. Group B includes Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia.
