In the days leading up to Lunar New Year, the Hai Ha District Labor Federation (Quang Ninh) is coordinating with grassroots unions and enterprises to organize many meaningful activities to care for the lives of union members and workers in difficult circumstances.

Warm reunion dinner

This Tet, Luong Thi Viet, 23 years old, a worker at Texhong Hai Ha Industrial Park Co., Ltd., and her husband plan not to return to their hometown to save money for their plans for the new year. Despite this decision, she still cannot avoid feeling sad when she thinks about her family and relatives back home.

Understanding Ms. Viet's feelings, the staff of Hai Ha Seaport Industrial Park are planning to organize a reunion dinner with her family right at her rented room.

Ms. Luong Thi Viet shared: “My hometown is Son La, this year Tet my husband and I decided to stay and work at the company. During the Tet meal at the boarding house, there will be colleagues and union officials joining us, workers far from home. This is a very meaningful and warm activity. I am very touched.”

In order to encourage workers who cannot return home to celebrate Tet due to personal circumstances, the Hai Ha District Labor Federation has developed a plan to organize programs to visit, wish a happy new year and especially attend reunion meals at the workers' dormitories. This is not only an opportunity to share and connect, but also a great source of spiritual encouragement for workers far from home.

Mr. Bach Tung Lam - Vice Chairman of the Hai Ha District Labor Federation - said: "Organizing reunion meals is an activity that has been implemented for many years, this is an opportunity for the union to bring a family atmosphere to the workers. Currently, the grassroots unions are updating the needs of union members and workers who do not return home for Tet to have a specific plan.

For the “Tet Sum vay” program, the District Labor Federation has worked with businesses and units providing goods and services to union members and employees at preferential prices. Commend and recognize the contributions of businesses, employers, and exemplary employees, especially those with great efforts in overcoming difficulties to ensure adequate jobs and income for employees in 2024.

Practical gifts

At Hoa Loi Dat Vietnam Garment Company, nearly 2,700 workers have received special attention from the company and the union. Each worker will receive a Tet gift worth 350,000 VND, along with other support such as airfare and shuttle bus for workers living far away to return home.

Ms. Pham Hoang Lan - Vice President of Hoa Loi Dat Vietnam Company's Trade Union - shared: "In addition to visiting and giving gifts, the company also increases food rations for workers at the end of the year. The average income of workers in 2024 will reach 8 million VND/person/month, an increase of 500,000 VND compared to the previous year."

Hai Ha Seaport Industrial Park is currently the largest textile and garment industrial center in Quang Ninh province, with 16 enterprises and more than 18,000 workers. The spirit of solidarity of trade unions at all levels has helped workers here gain more confidence and motivation to enter the new year.

On the occasion of Lunar New Year, Hai Ha district trade unions at all levels also coordinate to organize cultural and artistic activities and folk games. All aim to bring the most complete Tet atmosphere to workers.

According to the plan, this year's "Tet Sum Vay" program will take place at grassroots trade unions from January 1, 2025 to January 22, 2025. The program of the Hai Ha District Labor Federation will be held on January 16, 2025 at the headquarters of F&C Service Company Limited.

A new spring has come, gifts and reunion meals not only have material meaning, but also are priceless spiritual gifts, helping workers far from home to firmly build the future.
